Book Launch and CCK at Polyday!
Hi folks,
With the event only ten days away, I’m thrilled to announce two fabulous additions to this year’s Polyday.
Refreshments by Coffee Cake & Kink
Yes, that’s right. We will be having refreshments provided by the fabulous, if currently peripatetic, Coffee, Cake & Kink. Whilst not all polyamorous people are kinky, CCK have always been supportive of people of all genders, sexualities and relationship types, and are an excellent source of poly literature, with copies of The Ethical Slut etc. always in stock. Plus they offer the best coffee, tea and cake in London. We’re thrilled to have them on board!
For anyone who’s missed CCK having a premises in London, come and get a little taste!
Also, if you’re interested in buying from the Coffee, Cake & Kink online shop (do check it out, even if you’re ‘vanilla’ there are cakes and chocolates to enjoy!), now’s your chance to save on postage. Select ‘collect from office’ in the delivery options and mention that you’re going to Polyday to arrange collection for free! There will also be a selection of items available to browse on the day.
Book Launch
We’re also pleased to introduce Jemima Willcox, a photographer who has spent the last several months putting together a book on polyamory, which very appropriately she has decided to launch at Polyday.
Here’s what Jemima has to say about the project:
I’m rather interested about polyamory.
I have spent the last 9 months documenting a poly family in Cambridge. I really wanted to understand what poly is, how people live a poly lifestyle and how it makes them feel. As you will see I am somebody who isn’t poly but is fascinated about it, and I have many poly friends.I have created a book with 25 interviews of poly people around the world, the book also includes a glossary and relevant links to websites. The book is supported by CAAN, and has their backing.
I have made the book into an E-book, it can be viewed here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005GNW95A
I’m also taking pre orders for the paper back version.
I have exhibited my work at the Ruskin gallery at the Cambridge school of art. It is a mixed media piece, showing images of the poly family I’ve documented in Cambridge, video interviews/audio with them and also a book of text interviews from various members of the poly community.I have also exhibited my work in London at the old Truman Brewery.
My intentions are to show the poly lifestyle in a non biased and informative way, to educate and inform the general public about this lifestyle choice.I am launching the book at PolyDay on the 27th of Aug in London, and then will be going to London Fetish Fair, London Alternative Market, Norwich Alternative Fair and BBB.
More information can be found on my facebook fan page: Tiny.cc/isiou“Actually I’d like to thank you for producing the book itself…it’s been really helpful to me in exploring my poly side as I’m quite new to it all. It was nice to read things from people who think like I do and feel that love doesn’t have to be between two people only, but that you can love more than one person without it being seedy or weird or even unusual.”
~ Happy customer quote
Jemima will be attending Polyday with copies of her new book, and will be happy to chat, answer questions and sign copies. It’s a great example of a media project that allows polyamorous people to speak with their own voices, and we’d love to encourage more like it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the day!
Maxine
