What does a Badge get you?

A few of you lovely folks have been kind enough to buy a badge from myself, or the front desk at the last few poly events I’ve been involved in. As we’ve always tried to leave on the sign nearby, the money you pay for these badges goes directly to Polytical.org. The last couple of batches have been mostly paying for themselves or our leaflets. The latest one, however, has helped us buy something very fun.

A lot of folks, when starting out into Polyamory, don’t even know the word. I certainly didn’t! As we get more exposure in the media and general, that is changing, which is fantastic. However, a lot of folks will still wonder what non-monogamy has to do with parrots! So, we’ve invested in a new project: Two Partners.

Our aim in this project is to come up with a valid, up-to-date and useful resource to replace http://www.polyamory.org.uk which is looking more and more dated and doesn’t hold any kind of useful information outside of the basic poly 101. We’re hoping to work with Franklin Veaux at least a little as a lot of his work is excellent starting material, but we’ll be putting a British spin where relevant as well as linking it up with our growing list of resources and knowledge. As well as working with Franklin, we’d love to have some input from folks in Britain. Whether you want to write a full article, or just tell us something over Twitter or Facebook, we’d love to hear from you. How did you realise you were poly? What was your friends/families reactions? What advice would you love to have had when you were first starting out?

We’ve purchased twogirlfriends.co.uk, twoboyfriends.co.uk and twopartners.co.uk and plan to have the same site running on all three addresses, but with perhaps a bit of tailoring to each one as needed to get it higher up the search engine results. Once the site is up and running with content and looking pretty, our goal is to be in the top 3 results of each of these queries. As of 10:40 on 4th July 2012, the results at the moment are pretty dire:
